Ipas Development Foundation

This report is based on an evaluation undertaken by CMS (www.cmsindia.org) of the project intervention using pre–post quasi-experimental research design. Cross-sectional household surveys were carried out in intervention blocks namely, Chaibasa and Chakardharpur and in a comparison block (Noamundi) of the district. Baseline round of survey was conducted in March, 2019 while endline survey was held in March, 2021. Endline round was one of the first surveys conducted in India face-to-face post relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions and just before the initiation of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in India. Young women both married and unmarried were interviewed under the study from 32 villages (16 from intervention blocks and 16 from comparison block). Married men were interviewed to understand their awareness, practices and perception over various SRH issues. In total, 661 married women (336 in baseline and 325 in endline), 657 unmarried women (334 in baseline and 323 in endline) and 644 married men (324 in baseline and 320 in endline) were interviewed under the study. Data was analysed by comparing endline results with baseline findings and statistical tests were used to understand the significance of change.
